Light Exposure and Physical Activity in Myopic and Emmetropi… : Optometry & Vision Science

There has been research going on for some time now showing that kids who spend more time playing outside are less likely to become nearsighted.  A recent study tried to tease out whether the important factor was the bright outside light or the fact that kids run around more when they’re outside.  This study comes down on the side of bright light as the deciding factor.  It’s just another good reason (others include avoiding obesity/diabetes, stress relief, and it’s fun) for us all to get our kids outside more.  Your mama was right on so many levels when she said, “get out of the house, and go play outside.”
