1 Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal Contact Lenses

The 1 Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal Contact Lenses are interesting in that they are the first multifocal contact lens to take advantage of the natural change in pupil size as we age. In general, the idea of bifocal contacts is to provide two or more sets of optics in one lens. How we see is influenced by the size of our pupil, and the pupil naturally becomes smaller over the years. You can see evidence of this phenomena if you compare the large pupils of a child with the much smaller pupils of an elderly person.

Johnson and Johnson, the maker of these lenses, has attempted to take advantage of this change in pupil size over time by making changes in the lens design of the 1 Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal Contact Lens to account for this. Basically, we expect focusing power and pupil size to both decrease as someone ages, so this lens has a modified optical design for higher near powers that we expect patients to be wearing at an older age versus the optical design for the the lower near powers we expect patients to be wearing at a younger age.

1 Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal Contact Lenses are available for purchase from our office with just a phone call. Contact lens prescriptions are valid for one year. If your last contact lens exam was with us, we’ll have your prescription on file for you, so there’ll be nothing you have to do other than give us a call and let us know how many boxes you’d like. If it has been more than a year since your last contact lens exam, you will need a new eye exam and CL fitting or evaluation to ensure good ocular health and vision.
