Adidas Sunglasses
We spent quite some time here at Portland Eye Care looking for a line of performance sunglasses that we could recommend, and we’ve settled on Adidas Sunglasses. Performance sunglasses that are meant primarily for sports have a few unique challenges. They must be strong enough to withstand the stress they can be put under in sports such as kayaking or mountain biking. They must not fog up during aerobic sports such as running or hiking. They must be adjustable and designed so they can be worn with the headgear worn for specific sports such as cycling. And, it would be great if the lenses could be quickly exchanged for different tinted lenses depending on the conditions and the activity. For example, wouldn’t it be great to be able to switch from polarized lenses to cut out the glare off the lake when fishing and then switch to non-polarized sunglasses to read the greens when golfing?
All of these things and more are possible with Adidas sunglasses. Our experience and testing with these sunglasses has shown them to be durable, perform well in a variety of sports, and have some features that put them above the other sunglasses lines we’ve explored. For example, the Adidas sunglasses for cycling that we recommend, called the Evil Eye, is also the one you’ll see on riders in the Tour de France. These frames feature strategically placed flex zones that allow for better overall fit, full wrap-around view and protection, adjustable double-snap nose bridge, a gripping system so the frame stays stable, ventilation system to fight fog, polarized-hydrophobic lenses, and it is designed to be helmet compatible.
Lenses for performance glasses have a greater curve to them than everyday eyeglasses. This is so the sunglasses will wrap around your face more, giving you better protection and peripheral vision. However, this curvature of the lenses means there is more chance of distortion and aberration in the periphery. Therefore, we have spent a good deal of time researching different optical labs and digital lenses and we are proud of the performance the combination of Adidas sunglasses combined with digital lenses provides for our patients that require high performance sunglasses for their active lifestyles.
